Membership

NAME AND JURISDICTION
State/State-Area Chapters. The name of this organization shall be the 
______________ State or ______________ State-Area Chapter of the Adventist for Social Justice. Each State/State-Area Conference shall have a Chapter Lead.

Jurisdiction: The State/State-Area Chapter Authorized Committee shall be a constituent and subordinate unit of the Organization subject to the general authority and jurisdiction of the Board of Directors.
Objective: The purpose and aim of the State/State Area chapters of Adventist for Social Justice shall be to address issues of diversity and equity, including finding solutions, both within the church and beyond in the context of the gospel and our unique end-time message as Seventh-day Adventists.

I.    Membership.
a.    Any person or church, who is in accordance with the principles and policies of the 
Organization, and the Seventh day Adventist Church, may become a member of this Organization with consent of the Board of Directors, by accepting the terms of the aforementioned denomination, and the Bylaws for Chapters, and by paying monthly membership fees as prescribed by the Board of Directors.

b.    Dues. The Chapter shall remit to the local chapter Treasury all collected dues. 
c.    Resignation of Membership. All members requiring resigning from membership shall write a letter of resignation to the chapter leader, and executive committee. A member whose dues remain unpaid for, for more than a year will be considered to have resigned

II.    Officers 
a.    Officers and Duties.

The elective officers of the ASJ Executive Committee shall be: Chief Executive Officer, Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and additional officers as the ASJ Committee prescribes.

The Executive Committee shall have general control of the affairs and program of the Organization, subject to the authority of the Organization and the provisions of the approved bylaws.

Qualifications: Members who are passionate about social justice issues and purposed for social action, equipped with academic or volunteer relevant experience, shall be eligible to run for office.

Office Holding Limitations. No member shall hold more than one executive office position at the same time. Any member seeking an Executive Committee position must have been active in the club for one year and must have attended at least 50% of the organizations meeting during that period.

Chapter Leads: To utilize the identified goals and overarching mission of the ASJ Organization to improve, develop, and create programs within each state, that focuses on the political, educational, spiritual, and economic status of racial and ethnic minorities; to seek legislative action at the micro and macro levels of government.
